Tiffany Villavicencio, owner of Mountain Wave Marketing, is thrilled to have her design selected for this year's coveted Valentine card for the City of Loveland. As the proud designer, she poured her heart into crafting a masterpiece that encapsulated the essence and beauty of Loveland, while paying homage to the unique remailing program that has been going strong for 78 years now! Having grown up in Loveland, and still residing in northern Colorado, she is honored to contribute to the tradition of spreading love and joy in Loveland and around the world, making this Valentine's Day an unforgettable experience for her.

Corry McDowell, art designer for this year’s cachet and postal cancellation stamp has been a resident of Loveland since 1972. Married to Ray McDowell and mother of five, Corry also has been a day-care mom for twenty years. Graduating from Ferris State College, Corry used her degree in Commercial Art at the Alco Discount Store Advertising Dept. Corry entered some designs for the Valentine program at the prompting of a friend. In 1996 she was surprised to hear that the Chamber liked her ideas. Corry has had her card design used seven times, her cachet design chosen 20 times, and the postal cancellation design selected 12 times. Corry says “It has been a pleasure entering my designs for the Valentine Remailing Program contests over the years, being a part of touching the world with love from Loveland.”

Brenda S. Glover moved to Loveland in 2004.  After 37 years working at Anthem and IBM, she retired as an IT Specialist.  Upon retiring, she volunteered at the Loveland Visitors Center, and then was hired as a part-time clerk, working for 5 years. Again in retirement now, she volunteers with the Friends of the Loveland Library and is part of the Windsor Museum Curator Crew.  She is also on the HOA board in her community.  Brenda enjoys taking art classes, making art, reading, concerts, music, movies, and traveling.  Brenda is thrilled and excited to have her verse selected for the 2024 Valentine.  She believes that the Valentine Remailing Program is one of the wonderful reflections of the Loveland community.

Jeani Bork’s roots run deep for the Loveland remailing program.  Back in the 80's was Jeani’s first exposure to the program through work at King Soopers. She never gave much thought to the Valentine Card verse or Cachet verse, until she saw the Reporter Herald announcement in 2018 calling for entries for the Valentine card and cachet for 2019 .Jeani submitted a card verse and it was selected for the 2019 Valentine Card. She then submitted a card verse for 2020.  It, too, was selected.  Jeani has continued to submit verses for the card and cachet. Her cachet verse was selected for 2022 and again this year 2024. Jeani  loves the City of Loveland (Sweetheart City), her home since 1977.

Love Lock Opportunities in Loveland, Colorado
Love locks have gained attention around the world from being placed on bridges and public places in Paris, on New York’s Brooklyn Bridge, Cologne’s Hohenzollern Bridge and more. Loveland’s love lock sculptures are a chance to give the love lock tradition new life through art and sculpture and eliminating the risk to public places. These sculptures are intended for love locks, where the locks are part of the artistic story in the nation’s Sweetheart City, Loveland, Colorado.

Lock Your Love in the Nation’s Sweetheart City
Visitors can experience two love lock sculptures in Loveland, Colorado.

Launched January 2020: Loveland’s Second Love Lock Sculpture
Loveland has unveiled its second love lock sculpture, which is one of the largest love lock sculpture in Colorado and in the U.S. The sculpture will sit in the Foundry Plaza downtown for six weeks, through the Sweetheart Festival Feb. 14-15, before moving to its permanent location along the south shore of Lake Loveland near the American flag and Statue of Liberty sculpture. The 12-foot-3-inch-tall, 14-foot-3-inch-wide steel sculpture is a simple, heart design created and constructed right in Loveland by Doug Rutledge, Beatty Construction Services and Loveland Ready Mix Concrete.

Loveland’s First Lovelock Sculpture - the largest in Colorado
This 24,000 lbs, 10-foot-tall, 30-foot-wide steel sculpture is made up of four sculpted letters L, O, V, E and includes heart cutouts and places for love locks on the back. It was unveiled in 2019.  It is anchored at the Loveland Visitors Center and visible from US 34 welcoming visitors to Loveland, encouraging them to come and see it and learn more about what to do in Loveland. Since its unveiling, the sculpture has hundreds of locks on it - from visitors, locals, those who have lost love, those celebrating love and more. It was designed by local sculptor Doug Rutledge, constructed locally by Beatty Construction Services and Loveland Ready Mix Concrete poured the concrete for the bases. Doug and Jeff also worked together on the Equinox sculpture with the horses at I-25 and US34.

How to get a love lock or participate
Love locks sell for $20 at the Loveland Visitors Center, or visitors can bring their own. Locks will also be for purchase during the Sweetheart Festival in the 4th Street Gallery. The love locks can be customized with a paint pen or hand carving to include names and dates of those locking their love.

About the love lock tradition
Love locks are a symbol of love and commitment that has been inspired by an ancient custom, which is believed to have originated in China – where lovers lock a padlock on a chain or gate and then throw away the key, symbolically locking their love forever.
