Sweetheart City History
The city was founded in 1866 along the newly constructed line of the Colorado Central Railroad, near its crossing of the Big Thompson River. It was named in honor of William A.H. Loveland, the president of the Colorado Central Railroad.

Loveland, Colo. has been re-mailing valentines with a special cachet and postal cancellation since 1947. Since then, Loveland, Colo. has become world renown for its dedication to romance. The Sweetheart City captures the essence of romance via its Valentine Re-mailing program with more than 130,000 cards each year from all 50 states and more than 110 countries!

With the Valentines that get mailed internationally through the city's Valentine re-mailing program, an amorous feel due to our artistic roots (The city with heART), our acclaimed Sweetheart Festival over the Valentine's Day holiday, and a brand that screams romance, it was time we offered the opportunity for people around the globe to say 'I DO' in the most romantic city in the US - Loveland, Colorado!

Say 'I DO' in Loveland on Valentine's Day
A tradition since 2017, Loveland Valentine's Day Group Wedding will be a memorable experience for all! We have had requests to host Valentine's Day weddings for years, and partnered with The City of Loveland years ago to make magic happen! This event has been hosted at the Foote Lagoon in Downtown Loveland, in the Loveland Foundry Plaza, at the Giant LOVE sculpture by Visit Loveland, and in 2024 at a Colorado Eagles Hockey Game!

Legal DetailsTo marry or renew your vows, you must register with us by purchasing tickets online.
For couples getting married, you can purchase your tickets online, then you must apply for a marriage license throughthe county you live in or Larimer County, and bring it with you to registration on 2/14/25. It is your responsibility to return the license back to the County Clerk & Recorder within 35 days after the issue. The license will then be officially recorded. For couples renewing their vows, you do not have to apply for any paperwork in advance. Simply purchase tickets online and register with us on 2/14. You will receive a vow renewal certificate after the ceremony. All couples participating in our group wedding will have their certificate signed by the officiant. You will receive special signature Valentine's Wedding cupcakes, a love lock, and a gift bag for participating. You will receive these items at registration. A photographer will be available at the ceremony to take photos of each couple. Every couple will also be registered to win a large gift basket from participating partners! |
